Everyone likes playing in the pool, especially over the holidays. There are a number of games that are suitable for all ages. Anytime you play a game in the pool, it’s important that everyone has the safety equipment they need to feel as comfortable and safe as possible. The following games can be played by children and adults alike as long as they feel confident in their own abilities. Most can be played with two or more people, so everyone will get a chance to participate.
-
Pool Tennis
Using pool noodles as rackets, you can play a fun game of pool tennis. Put a volleyball net across the pool and do your best to hit a small beach ball back and forth across the net with a pool noodle. Keep score just like you would if you were playing a regular tennis match. Children and adults will enjoy this fast-paced game that involves a lot of splashing fun.
-
Pool Basketball
Pool basketball can be played with one hoop or two and three to five players on each team. You can use a small basketball or beach ball and keep score just like you would if you were playing on a court or in the school gym. Free throws and three-point shots are all part of the game. Take your best shot, and everyone will have a great time.
-
Pool Volleyball
Much like pool basketball and tennis, pool volleyball is played like its drier counterpart. It is scored the same way, and all of the same rules will apply. Teams can have three to six players per side, just don’t make it too crowded. The key is to keep the ball from landing in the water.
-
Diving Contest
Everyone can participate in the diving contest. Throw pool rings, coins, or other heavy objects that will sink to the bottom of the pool. Make sure they are colorful and can be easily seen. Assign each item a set number of points. Each person has an opportunity to make two dives and bring up as many items as you they can. Points are tallied, and the final score will determine the winner.
-
Professional Sunbathing Contest
Last but not least, a professional sunbathing contest is one of the easiest games to play as long as everyone plays safely. Wear sunscreen and begin the contest! Lay on a floaty or put a towel down on the deck. The winner is the one who has the best tan at the end of the day.
Let the Labor Day fun begin! There are plenty of games that you can play in the pool so that everyone can stay cool. Gather a few balls, a net, a few deck chairs, some sunscreen, and the willingness to have some fun in the pool.
